Marthijn Uittenbogaard van de Partij voor de Naastenliefde, Vrijheid en Diversiteit noemt het feit dat pedofielen zelf om castratie vragen 'triest'. "Het lijkt wel alsof we teruggaan naar de tijd dat homo's werden gecastreerd, omdat men dacht dat ze ziek waren. In principe vind ik dat mensen zelf moeten weten wat ze met hun lichaam doen, maar ik heb sterk het gevoel dat acties als deze door de maatschappij worden ingegeven." [...]<br><br />

Bij homoseksuelen die gecastreerd zijn, verdwijnt het libido, weet Theo van der Meer. "Maar daarmee verdwijnt hun aandacht en affectie voor mannen niet. Het lijkt mij dat gecastreerde pedoseksuelen, nog steeds affectieve gevoelens voor kinderen blijven hebben." Ook als mensen het zelf willen, heeft Van der Meer 'grote moeite' met castratie. "Mensen zijn zich onvoldoende bewust van de consequenties, zoals botontkalking, prostaatklachten en obesitas. Zelfs als een man het zelf wil, vind ik niet dat een dokter zo'n grote macht over iemand moet kunnen hebben."<br><br />
