De Tilburgse juriste pleit voor meer openheid. &quot;Het onderwerp wordt steeds minder bespreekbaar en dat baart mij zorgen.&quot; [...]&lt;br&gt;<br /> &lt;br&gt;<br /> Zo ook tijdens een uitzending van Pauw &amp; Witteman eerder dit jaar, waar inwoners uit Deventer te gast waren die protesteerden tegen de aanwezigheid van pedofielen in hun stad. Deventer moest pedovrij worden en pedofielen waren volgens hen überhaupt geen mensen.&lt;br&gt;<br /> &lt;br&gt;<br /> Jannemieke Ouwerkerk, universitair docent strafrecht aan Tilburg University, zag de aflevering en besloot dat het tijd werd voor een tegengeluid. Ouwerkerk is betrokken bij stichting Mens en Strafrecht (MENS). Deze groep van strafrechtjuristen en criminologen pleit ervoor de menselijke maat niet uit het oog te verliezen in een tijd waarin er vooral wordt geroepen om meer en zwaardere straffen. Samen met collega&#039;s Jacques Claessen en Alrik de Haas klom Ouwerkerk in de pen en schreef een opinie die werd gepubliceerd in o.m. het Eindhovens Dagblad.
