The teenage victim of pedophile teacher Karen Ellis insists he pursued her during their illicit tryst. Benjamin Dunbar, now 17, has defended his former teacher Ellis, who was jailed for having sex with him when he was 15. "You could say I was the predator. I mean, I went after her," Mr Dunbar said.
He makes the declaration in a 60 Minutes interview to screen tonight. In the interview, for which Channel 9 is believed to have paid $40,000, Ellis, 38, describes the past two years as a nightmare. "I did come out (of prison) a pedophile," she said. "I don't think I am, but the law says I am."
Australian Childhood Foundation chief Joe Tucci said such claims were common among child sex perpetrators. "It's how they justify their behaviour," he said.
