A Wairarapa man has fathered a son with the 14-year-old daughter of the woman with whom he was trying to conceive a child.
The man pleaded guilty to having sexual connection with a young person. District Court judge Arthur Tompkins gave him a year's home detention with special conditions. Home detention is not at the house where the offending occurred and the man is to complete counselling.
